It was a great experience. We went with the guides Yoner and Edy – Both did an amazing job. We learned a lot of the history of inka and… read more of Peru!
A big clap for all porters! Without these guys , it is impossible to make this trail.
The food was also amazing!
We can recommende this tour to everybody!
Miguel was an excellent guide, he kept us motivated as well as providing fascinating info on local history and culture. The whole team of porters did an amazing job –… read more the food was incredible and the camp was always set up perfectly. I really appreciated that Miguel asked the porters to introduce themselves and gave us the opportunity to thank them for their hard work. Seeing Machu Picchu was the trip of a lifetime and this group made it even better!
We had the most amazing time on this trek with the best group of 8 people from around the world. You truly become best friends and a family in 4… read more days!
We had two guides Robinzon and Walter who both were fantastic in keeping our spirits up even when morale was low due to the high altitude. They looked after us “fragile hikers” very well. Robinzon was our main guide who spoke English quite well and was able to share interesting stuff with us about Quechua people and the local flora and fauna. He had a great sense of humour and even made coffee for us on the Dead And Woman’s pass!!! What a life saver.
This was Walter’s first trip with an English speaking group and he dealt with us with the outmost care. He was so humble and lovely we really liked him.
About the porters:
For 8 people we had 16! Porters carrying everything for us! Primo was our head porter who made it to camp first everyday and claimed the best spots for our tents. These guys are the real super heroes running up the mountains with 20kg on their backs like it’s nothing. They greeted us with smiles and cheers every time we made it to camp. Whereas in actual reality they are the ones who deserve the cheering. We got hot water every night so we could wash off the dust of the road which I thought was a nice touch.
We had 1 chef, 1 assistant chef and 1 waiter with us for the whole trip. This was a great opportunity to try local foods and get to know the different type of potatoes, fruits and corn of the region.
Every day 3 x we were treated like Inkas (kings) and were served at least 3 different types of dish.
Most evening meals were washed off by a Muna tea and we had nice fresh coffee at breakfast.
About the Inka trail:
We are hobby hikers and Munro baggers in Scotland ( so in good shape) but I would say that the trek was tough going. Although, It was worth all the pain for seeing a small part of the Andes and how people in there live. And of course the mighty Machu Picchu . We dreamt about being there so many times and experiencing it and after the 4 day trek it was even more special to us. We even climbed Wayna Picchu. The only thing is that due to the second climb we were not able to get a full tour (2.5 hrs maximum) and didn’t hear about the history of Machu Picchu as much as we would have liked to. But we can read all the books about it later while browsing through our pictures.
It was a nice experience. It was a combination of sweat and tears. After all it was nice. The food was very good and beautiful places of basecamps. There… read more were beautiful views. There was enough time for pleasure and taking photos for memories.
A fun, at times challenging walk accompanied with great guides (Rosa and Russel) who explained numerous Inca sites along the way.

Would highly recommend booking with these guys for an unforgettable experience.
I had a great time on the trip. The guide was very kind and the company was willing to work with us on different pickup and drop off locations. Overall… read more a great time!
We had Charlie as our tour guide and he was awesome! Really nice and friendly and very knowledgeable about nature and Incan history. I was really thankful that he stopped… read more multiple times during our hike so I could take breaks and he made sure no one was left behind (we had a mix of faster hikers and slower hikers in our group). Charlie was also a really good photographer and will take many many beautiful pictures of you! Our trail tickets only let us into Machu Picchu once (no bathrooms inside Machu Picchu), however, my boyfriends stomach was not feeling well and we needed to use the restroom mid tour, Charlie was able to talk to the ticketing counter to get us an exception so we could re-enter Machu Picchu again. We absolutely loved the packed lunch on our hike, however we did not enjoy the dinner chosen by the tour company. The restaurant they chose was low quality with limited options. We ended up going to eat somewhere else after the group dinner was over.
The Inca trail had gorgeous views, but give yourself a couple days to acclimate to the altitude before trying it if you don’t regularly do hikes of this length with… read more this much change in elevation. Our tour guide set a pretty fast pace that was challenging for me, but we arrived at each stop and checkpoint on time as he predicted. I was about the middle-pace of our group and felt a bit bad about how fast we were pushing for the slower members of our group because it was by no means easy – 550 m/ 1800ft of elevation gain, pretty much all climbing for the first four hours to Wiñay wayna, and then up and down with many big steps for a change in elevation of 220ft but in reality it’s much more because you’re doing so many ups and downs within that 220ft for the next 2 hours. You will be amazed when you look back from each spot you were at and down at the river by how much ground you cover! The duffel service where they take some belongings on the train to your hotel that nice was very appreciated even though I pack light, I was glad to not make the trek with extra weight. The tour of Machu Picchu given by our tour guide Jose was very interesting, and the tourism ministry has the buses and trains down to keep the long lines moving fast. The hotel chosen by the tour company, Susanna Inn, had very comfortable beds and pillows (super important after that long hike) and nice shower pressure, although being on the 5th floor with no elevator felt like punishment after that hike. It’s not fancy but it was a solid choice and the riverfront breakfast at the hotel was tasty with great views. The packed lunch was surprisingly delicious (we had a quinoa-seaweed-green bean salad with chicken and ham roll, with a passion fruit dressing, and a lot of us dipped into the fruits and juice as snacks earlier in the hike). Dinner choice was passable but we went to a highly rated spot the next day and found it mediocre, so not sure if there’s a much better spot in such a touristy town we could have eaten at. We opted for a massage at Aguas Calientes (worth it) over the hot springs (tour guide said some people find it kind of dirty and we appreciated the honesty to spend our time elsewhere). The vistadome train had nice views, but with a 3:40am start I slept through the morning ride, and by the return ride you have seen most of those views from the Inca trail already. The downside was the train conductors were also trying to sell alpaca sweaters to you for most of the ride, so it was less relaxing than I would have liked (no fault of TreXperience, but worth knowing when picking which option you would prefer). Door to door pickup and luggage handling was also nice (we changed hotels from before and after our tour and they stored our suitcases and picked them up before dropping us at our hotel on the second day). Do note the bud ride to and from Cusco to the train station is a bumpy one if you get motion sickness easily!
Jose and Yoner were the best tour guides we could ever ask for! They were supportive during a difficult journey through the Inca Trail and so full of knowledge! We… read more learned much during our trip and the porter staff were second to none. The experience was so great my partner and I are thinking of doing the Inca trail again with some our other family members through the same tour group company. From the moment we met Robbie the night before the trek, he explained it very thoroughly and made us feel at ease that he is going to be our guide.… read more Robbie took great care of us during the trek, made sure we stay hydrated and breaks as needed. He was very informative with all the Inca sites along the way to Machu Picchu. We def learned about the history of Peru. The porters were amazing. Every meal we had were delicious, I am still thinking the soup we had every night! Each morning we were awaken with hot coca tea and hot water to wash up. At each stop site for lunch and dinner we were given fresh water and soap to wash our hands. Every moment with TreXperience were very thoughtful! To top it off, our guide Robbie made us hot espresso when we arrive to the highest peak of the trek! It was definitely one of the highlights of the trip! You definitely won’t regret if you choose TreX

Huge thanks to the whole crew and especially our amazing guides Jose Calderon, Lourdes Soto, and Rosa Huillca ♥️♥️
My favorite part of this amazing experience was the incredible scenery, and of course the reward at the end of seeing Machu Picchu! Our guides, Carlos Ccolcca and Joao Sanchez,… read more did a great job of providing the information and help we needed to be successful during this very challenging trek. I couldn’t have done this without their help and support. The porters and the chef, Julio Cesar, were fantastic, having everything set up for us when we arrived at camp —and the food was great! Even at camp, chef not only prepared a wonderful variety of more than we could eat, but the presentation was unbelievable. We even had fresh flowers on the tables! Our morning started with hot cocoa tea delivered to our tents, then a breakfast for champions. After hiking all morning, a terrific lunch was served, At the end of a full day of trekking, we enjoyed “tea time” popcorn, crackers and jam, hot chocolate, and of course tea. Then came our 4-5 dish dinner! Every day was different, deliciously prepared, very creatively presented.
I loved every part of the experience and it wouldn’t have been the same without the lares team of porters and cooks
Our guide Filio was very helpful and friendly and the cooks Francisco and Rosalio were excellent. They cooked great things (also vegetarian) and even made an amazing cake!

He… read more was always willing to answer any questions we had. The guide company arranged all of our tickets/passes for transportation, and to get into Machu Picchu which saved a lot of time. We did the hike in June (winter in Peru) Wearing layers during this time of year is a must as it can get down to 30F at night into the morning. I highly recommend Robinzon and TreXperience.

As the tour… read more guides during this beautiful hike, they kept our group comfortable, entertained, on schedule to see all the sites, and provided tons of back ground knowledge. Sinchimama, the camp chef, provided an amazing meal experience at every meal that I never would have expected. He even made accommodations for, and made special meals for our team members with special diets. Lastly, I have to mention the porters. The porter group from Lares were an amazing group of cheerful super humans that made everything possible. Thank you again, I will be recommending this trail and company to everyone I know!
I was on the fence about a trekking tour and had a hard time finding a company that had availablity a few weeks in advanced for someone traveling solo. TreXperience… read more found me a spot in my time range and took care of everything else from that point on. Our tour guide Filio was great asset with years of experience and exceptional knowledge of the Inca people. He was also very kind and patient with those of us not as fast as scaling mountains as others. Our porter, Pedro, carrying most of our stuff and acting as our waitstaff during meals was extremely professional – as if our table in the mountains were in a five star restaurant. Lastly we had fantastic Chefs, the guys behind the scenes making our incredible 3 course meals every day.

We had a very positive experience with TreXperience. The company did an excellent job at keeping us well-informed about what to bring and expect for the trip as well as… read more updating us with changes to the region’s rules and regulations in light of COVID (mask requirements, COVID testing/vaccination protocol). There was a mandatory briefing the night before the trip to allow us to meet our tour guide, review the itinerary and give us an opportunity to ask any questions which I thought was very helpful.
The TreXperience team for my group consisted of tour guide Nilo Uscamayta, chef Celso, sous-chef Juan, and horseman Victor. I highly recommend this team – every single member worked so hard at making us feel welcome and as comfortable as possible on this journey. Nilo was very patient, empathetic and knowledgeable – some of us struggled during parts of the trek with injury or illness, and Nilo was very patient even though we moved slowly. He always encouraged us to move at a comfortable pace. He always asked how we were feeling and if there’s anything he could do to help. Nilo was very knowledgeable and was consistently giving us interesting information on the landscape, culture and history of the region. He also knew the best spots in Machu Picchu to capture beautiful photos and was always enthusiastic to take photos for us.
Every meal prepared by chef Celso and sous-chef Juan was impressive. They are truly talented to be able to prepare delicious meals with just a few tools and without a working kitchen. They even found out that it was my friend’s birthday and whipped up a personalized cake for her! The Pachamanca meal was very interesting and really demonstrated the passion that the chef and sous-chef have for cooking. Our horseman, Victor, was very attentive and always made sure that our belongings were readily available and that the campsite was setup before we arrived.
If you are considering doing a guided trek to Machu Picchu, I highly recommend this tour with TreXperience. Some parts of the trek may be difficult, but it is manageable and very scenic. You will have a very memorable time, especially if you are lucky enough to have the team that we had. Don’t think about it anymore and just book it :) !

Carlos was our guide, and he exceeded EVERY expectations. He shared a wealth of information about the Incas (with his 10 years of Peru tour experience) along the 2 day hike.
He shared information about Incan’s religious traditions, agricultural practices, architectural practices, and also his personal experiences (Carlos grew up in Ollataytambo – a town in Sacred Valley near Machu Picchu) as a native from a local town.
He managed the pace of our group well, and explained each stage of the hike in detail so everyone in the group felt safe through out the hike.
I was a relatively faster hike than other in the group (weird brag). The point is that he defined places for me to stop to rest and he stayed with the more patient hikers – this way every one was able to go at their own pace and still feel safe.
Carlos fielded our group’s barrage of questions with grace. And by the end of the trip I felt like I had a friend in Carlos! Next time I do a tour around Cusco, I’m requesting Carlos from Trexprience.

Balbino’s food was just incredible. Everyday he managed to surprise us with his cooking skills and creativity.
The trail itself is just something you have to experience in order to understand. They were not easy trails but we enjoyed every single minute of it. Each and one of us did it in our own time and between Pepe and Sara we never felt alone on the trail. The weather definitely helped as well. No rain except a few hours during our last night camping.
