Our tour guide was José Calderon. We are very pleased about him. The trek was amazing. Spectacular views and by the end of a hard day the chefs prepared us… read more a delicious meal.
Fantastic experience with our excellent guide Robby. My boyfriend and I had an amazing time on this trek. It is hard but it is worth it! Our guide was kind… read more enough to let us maintain our pace ahead of the group. At one point he even ran to catch up with us ( rest of the group was 30 minutes behind) to give us directions and ensure we were fine! I would definitely recommend this trek & this company! Support local !
Trexperience really does tick all the boxes. JJ and Yoner were awesome guides and were flexible to the variety of paces within the group. JJ was very knowledgeable and gave… read more us an extensive history lesson throughout. The porters simply are not human, the trip would be impossible without them. What the chefs were capable of using camp kitchens still boggles the mind; so much variety and taste. They really do get the little details right, hot/cold water to wash the day off, hot coca tea before you even leave the tent, regular water where possible. Even if other providers are cheaper, go with this company!
The classical four day inca trail with TreXperience was a remarkable experience. My tour guides were Robinzon Gutiérrez Llanos and Walter Diaz.
The guides were very knowledgable and we… read more learnt a lot through them along the trail. The trail is tough and they were very supportive and patient, ensuring we all got to the camp at our own pace.
TreXperience as a company were highly organised and very professional. They ensured everyone in the group were well looked after and were truly enjoying themselves. They came across very genuine.
The food was incredible and the rest of the staff were very polite and helpful.
The equipment provided were at a high standard and everything was always clean. The camp sites had magical views.
I would highly recommend TreXperience as a company I will certainly be returning to do another challenging trail.
TreXperience thank you for an incredible memory.
The views and the sights on this tour were awesome. Our guide Fernando Benavides was very nice and had great knowledge and stories about the region and Inca history.
It… read more was organised well including transport, hotel, food and entrances.
Would definitely recommend the tour to anyone who doesn’t want to only take the quick picture of Machu Picchu.
Unbelievable experience only made possible by the team at Trexperience. The tour guides (Eddie and Jonah) were great at guiding us the way around the Inca Trail and the story… read more telling at all the key archaeological sites and checkpoints were great and informative.
The head chef was incredible also who cooked delicious food at every meal, above and beyond everything I expected here.
And last but not least the porters. These guys were the reason we were able to have this experience at all. The unsung heroes of the trip who I admire so much with the work they put in in carrying around our luggage and helping to set the camp sites up every day.
The whole group were exceptional and made my life so easy during a naturally difficult journey. I couldn’t recommend this group of people more. I felt a bond with the team and I’m sad that the journey is over. Until next time chicos.
Hakuna matata!
Stop and look no further. This is 10000% the tour you need to book! After loads of research and having an amazing 12/10 experience, this is the tour to take.… read more You wouldn’t believe the attention to detail to every little thing from logistics, food, camping and everything in between, these guys have it taken care of! I’m a seasoned hiker and they take care of all of the mundane details so that you can fully enjoy the hike. Mickey and his team are unbeatable!
I loved the Salkantay Trek w/ TreXperience. My guide, Nilo, was fantastic. A great person and full of information about Inca history, Machu Picchu and the Cusco area. The chefs,… read more Raymundo and Johan, were fantastic as well. Food was amazing. Augustine, the horseman, was a consummate professional. I recommend this trip to anyone!
To begin with, however hard you think this might be, double it. This was the most difficult thing I think I’ve done in my life, although in my 50s my… read more knees probably would have fared better had I tried this 20 or 30 years ago.
Were it not for my faithful spouse and the never ending smiles in support by our Trexperience guides, William & Jonas, I might have given up on day two. They were always happy, always accommodating, while also making sure we continued to learn about the incredible Incan history. William’s love for his country and its history embodies all that he does on the trail. The food was unbelievable and I still can’t wrap my mind around how the cook was able to put together such tasty, filling food but also such a beautiful presentation for each meal. William & Jonas are pure souls & I’m better for having witnessed their patience & kindness.
The only real comforts on the trail were those amazing meals and the warm sleeping bag (although make sure to bring plenty of layers because there will at least be a few nights where you’re gonna need them in addition to the great sleeping bag; I also recommend paying extra for the small blow up pad). Oh, one more thing, the porters laid out hot bowls of water at the end of each hike so we could wash our hands in warm water. My husband and I used ours to take good, old-fashioned spit baths inside the tent because by evening it is always very cold and a little bit of hot water was nice. It’s the small things!
You won’t take a real shower for four full days unless you can stand the two places where there is an ice cold option; bathrooms are all along the trail but most don’t have toilet paper, almost none have a seat (ladies), & on the last part of the trail the toilets are in the ground. It was hell trying to squat after the previous days hikes & my legs weren’t happy.
Speaking of porters, my mind was blown. I couldn’t help but worry about the condition of their backs and knees as they age but so many of them have been doing this for years. Apparently the pay is good because their meals are included and they never seem to complain. After we were tucked in our tents at night we could hear them laughing among each other. They are a very strong, quiet crew and I was humbled and grateful each day as they passed us. The last evening they introduce themselves to us and their age is ranged from 20 to 47. We wouldn’t have been able to tell their ages. I feel very
privileged.
If you’re physically able, I highly recommend this life-changing event. You will meet amazing people, you’ll see views that will leave your jaw dropping, and you will find yourself physically uncomfortable and testing yourself in ways that will build character. It’s a good soul-searching trip as well. I’m forever grateful that we made the trip and would recommend William, Jonas, and this company a million times!!

With his experience as… read more both a ranger at Machu Picchu and a tour guide, we got to hear some unique stories and information about the site. During the hike there were many stops to accommodate the speed of everyone in the group. The lunch with veg option was more than enough and really yummy. The train option was epic. I would imagine most companies just pick you up, take you there and then drop you back but this tour had GOURMET breakfast and lunch included prepared by the genius chef that is Lorenzo with his assistant Miguel looking out onto the mountain range. The driver James was equally incredible driving for several hours on roads that many would not dare to try.

For anyone who is looking for another option than the Inca Trail, this is a great scenic option! From time of booking through Tour Radar, TreXperience had impeccable communication and… read more provided helpful information. We met our tour guide, Filio, in Cusco the night before and honestly we had the best time with him over the 4 days. He was great, funny and knowledgeable about all things Inca. He even taught us some Quechan. We were very lucky as there was only my husband and I so it became a private tour (great price!) and Filio was very patient with our pace. He was also a great photographer. Pedro was also an amazing cook and we could not fault any of the dishes. Was delicious so definitely consider booking via TreXperience as they are also a local company at a very good price compared to other Australian companies we were looking at!

All the portors went above and beyond and genuinely cared we were as comfortable as possible. Portors would run ahead of us to make sure they got lunch or dinner ready before we arrived on site. It was about the history of the Inca’s, taste Peruvian food, and to make great friends and learn about the local culture! I would definitely recommend Trexperience to anyone who is thinking about any hikes to Machu Picchu!

Our guide William and the assistant guide johnner were both brilliant and made the trip fun and engaging for all 10 of us doing the trail. Their energy was infectious… read more and they were extremely accommodating of the different needs of all members of the group.
Given that we were eating on the mountains, they standard of the food was incredible – it was very varied and better than most of the food you would buy in the restaurants in the city. The portion sizes were large and there was always more than enough for all members and then some.
I’m not sure if I would’ve had the same experience if I used another provider so I was very happy with my choice to go with trexperience on this occasion.
Overall, a great trip. The hike is beautiful, food is amazing, and the guides are great. They do so much to make your trip as focused as possible on the… read more hikes and views. The tents are pitched for you, the cooks are fantastic, they provide equipment, and the guides have lots of knowledge. You learn a lot as well. The hike itself is quite hard, even if you are decently active. That is cause of the altitude. Day two is very challenging but the third day is amazing.
What an awesome trip, fantastic guides, porters and cooks – food amazing, even at 4,600 mtrs and nothing was too much for them. Knowledge at Machu Picchu was awesome, giving… read more so much insight into the history of the Inca people. Worth every penny.
Recently completed the 4 day 3 night classic Inka Trail with Trexperience. What an amazing experience. The company was professional from start to finish. They have high quality equipment, attentive… read more and incredibly hard working porters and chefs (the food was amazing, not what I was expecting when trekking and camping in the mountains) and of course our fun local guide Robbie who was first class with his fluent English, great knowledge of the Inkan/pre-Inkan sites we visited as well as history and culture of the local area and people. Special thanks for putting up with our endless questions (!) and making sure each of us in the group got what we wanted from the experience. And for the 4am daily coca tea !
Not an easy hike but achievable for various ages and fitness levels and worth ticking off the bucket list. I’d highly recommend Trexperience.
I have hiked quit a lot, but this experience is different and unique with porters and chiefs services. I highly recommend it to anyone who don’t mind outdoor living… read more for a few days. More specifically, here are what I like and some thoughts
Like:
1. The porters are working very hard for very little, and they are very attentive, eager to please if we need anything. I would suggest to bring a lot more changes to tip them.
2. Our guides, Carlos and Joao are very personable and fun, knowable and experienced. I have enjoyed the interaction with them greatly. I wish I asked them a lot more questions, cultural and personal.
3. The chief ( Julio) and meals are excellent, I am amazed how did he manage to produce the meals with beautiful presentation under such primitive conditions? Again, the porters bring in everything include cooking stove, pots and pans, propane etc Tip is: be prepared to eat three square meal a day!:-)
Suggestions:
1. Company could ask us to indicate the t-shirt size ahead of time online to make it easier for the guides.
2. I would like to stick to the same sleeping bag and pillow, so a system to put our name there would be helpful.
3. For travelers, I wish I read more about the history so I can learn even more from the trip.
It was a wonderful experience, the trail/place and the people have touched me deeply, and I’d do it again!

A supposedly straightforward 3 hour private guide for Machu Picchu ended up being very challenging and was anything but straightforward before it even began.
First off, there was a… read more strike that prevented us from getting to Aguas Calientes the day before the scheduled activity. This resulted in plans being changed. Then, my personal hotspot was acting up so I had spotty internet access when not in our hotel. As a result, communication with the company to arrange for a meeting place became almost impossible. Tom (Travel Advisor) was very patient in dealing with me and our agonizing back and forth emails especially since I also didn’t have WhatsApp so there was no way I could directly communicate with our guide Nohemi. To add insult to injury, the people in charge of the buses that go up the mountain wouldn’t let us get on the bus until just 40 minutes before our scheduled entry time. The long line meant that we didn’t get to the entrance until just a few minutes before our 12 noon entry time.
Nohemi was patiently waiting for us at the entrance of the citadel when we finally showed up. We appreciated her patience with all the issues we’ve encountered. And she did a wonderful job giving us insights about Machu Picchu – she answered all our questions and dispelled false notions that we’ve had. Moreover, she also served as our de facto photographer. She offered to take our photos at every opportunity and knew how to frame shots. She’s very personable and certainly knows her stuff.
The tour was conducted at a very leisurely pace and we never felt rushed. She gave us every opportunity to just gaze at the marvel before us and soak it in. It took us close to 3 hours from start to finish and we felt that the time was ample enough to really enjoy the experience.
When the tour was over and we returned to Aguas Calientes, Nohemi still volunteered to take more pictures of us there and then when we asked her for restaurant recommendations, she not only gave us one. She personally walked us to the restaurant and spoke with the staff there to tell them about our preferences. THAT, was above and beyond what was necessary.
Overall, I highly recommend this company.
Amazing trail with amazing views! Our private guide Jose Luis made those 2 days such a fun and great experience. The best guide we ever had!
