Our group of five took the 5 day Trexperience Salkantay Trek and it was really fantastic. We can only recommend it to anyone thinking of taking on the challenge (it… read more wasn’t actually as hard as we thought it would be but we are quite a fit group!). Our guide Adolfo had lots of great history and stories to tell, which were usually accompanied by ridiculously good food cooked by Amilcar and his team. Seriously, we ate better than we did in Cusco most nights!
The camping equipment was all of a very good standard, and the added touch of a hot water bottle on night one which was the coldest (-5C degrees) was hugely appreciated by all. In addition, the logistics of our trip w ere incredibly well organised thanks to Amilcar, Elmer, Wilburgh and Cecilio, meaning that nothing was amiss and we did everything in good time.
We were very unlucky with our weather on Day 5, and unfortunately the clouds never parted for us to get a full view of Machu Picchu, which Adolfo told us had never happened in his 15 years of experience (cries inside). Nonetheless, he was very cheerful and told us all the history very enthusiastically to still make it a memorable experience.
If we trek in Cusco again, I think Trexperience would certainly be our choice and our group would all highly recommend to others.
Thanks Adolfo and team!
The amazing views, all the meals by great cook Lorenzo, Machu Picchu were the best!
We had a small group of 4 and were about the same strength. That… read more helped a lot. The guide Miguel was very supportive and pushed us to our limits. To my surprise I was able to reach more than i expected.
It was amazing, but a very hard Trek.
Honestly I dont know if we had booked it, knowing it was that hard…. Nevertheless this is an experience that we will never forget and made us really proud of our achievement.
Great tour with Sarah & Charlie in the Andes! They took great care of our entire group and were encouraging and supportive even on the harder parts of the trail.… read more Food was incredible and the services by the porters (warm water for washing, comfortable tents/sleeping quarters, snacks before hikes, drinks after hikes, etx) were amazing. Transportation to/from the hike was also super easy and helpful. Overall a great team and company to go through for the hike! An incredible experience – once in a lifetime.
Unfortunately, it was too challenging for us (in our 60s) so if you’re over 55 our advice is not to attempt it unless you are superfit. However, If you are… read more planning to do the 4 day challenge, TreXPerience is most highly recommended. We trekked with Charly – who took full care of us and when it was clear that we would not be able to carry on, he and TreXperience were supreme in their support of us arranging to have us accompanied from the trek back to where we could be collected by motorbike and then taken to km.82, where a driver picked us up and took us to a hotel which the company had arranged for us. The company (and Charly when he could connect to data) were in constant contact with us advising us on how to make the journey by transport to Aguascalientes and onward to Machu Picchu where we met up with the group again. Everyone (Charley, Tom, Coronel, porters and drivers), where outstanding in their care of us and, they will be our first of call for any other tours when we come back to Cusco. Charly is also impressive as an historian and passionate about his culture.
Our hosts Vannia and Jonah were incredible. They both were extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their work. The food was definitely the highlight of this tour. They went above and beyond to make sure we… read more had everything we needed to be comfortable and have a incredible time. I expected to eat well but the food exceeded my expectations! I thought we ate like kings and queens! I didn’t bring gloves because it was hot during the day in Cusco but I wish that I had because we ended up in an ice pellet storm on day 2. It was challenging but SO rewarding!!! I am so glad I chose to see Machu Picchu this way instead of the train and bus. Seeing it through the sun gate was fantastic! I did train before this hike and would recommend doing that because it is much harder to hike at altitude! Overall I had the absolute time of my life!!! Would highly recommend Trexperience and would do it myself again!

This company "suggests" that everyone should tip 80-100 sols to each porters and 10-15% of the tour fee to guide as a tip after booking. it’s not right to… read more inform that after booking. Even though each tour company said that tips are not included. but I have asked people who booked other travel agencies and there is no "suggestion" on how much to tip.
The tour fee is 700 US dollars per person. Even if each person gives minimum 10% as the tips(70USD), our group was 16 people, then that is 1,120 US dollars for the tour guides for 4 days working. I think that’s too much. I’m totally fine with the tips for porters, because they really did hard work. but giving 70 USD for our tour guides? Nope
We didn’t expect that the experience would be so good. Our guides JJ and Yoner really made our trip to Machu Picchu special. But what amazed us the most was… read more the food. For example we got cake the last day made in a pan on simple cooking gear. There were plenty delicious vegetarian options. On our treks, the views were breathtaking. The trekking was at points challenging on the second day but accessible to all levels and very rewarding. The tour guides were very supportive and always making sure everyone was doing well. Eddy and Juan had a lot of knowledge about the Incas and beautiful stories to tell us about their culture. They were clearly very passionate and love their job. I would recommend this experience to anyone who is lucky enough to do it!

Overall I really recommend TreXperience for anyone looking to travel to Machu Picchu, the staff from top to bottom were fantastic and make the experience stress free!
Thank you Charlie and Sarah for being such amazing guides!!

Thanks to our guides… read more NILO and YONER I had the opportunity to better understand the Inka colture and to have a lot of fun! These 2 guys are incredible! As well as the chef’s team that provided us such great food, also the dishes for the vegetarian were incredible. I raccomando you

I suggest also to do the inka trail and not other trails because of alla the Inka elements and because once I get to machu pichu, I swear, it will taste different than just taking a bus or a train in one day!

We had a bit of trouble with our luggage and TreXperience bent over backward to make sure we still had a great experience.
I rented a sleeping bag, and they provided a liner and a mat. They also provided a poncho which came in pretty handy.

The porters were always clapping us into camp after a day of hiking after they had been then ones doing the actual hard work. Lastly the food, wow, amazing what kinda of things they can cook up there on tiny stoves. We had a wide variety of dishes with fish, beef, chicken along with traditional Peruvian dishes and they easily accommodated for those in the group that were vegan or vegetarian. Can’t recommend this company and tour enough!!!

The porters were beyond helpful, they were pleasant and encouraging with their smiles and high spirit as they worked hard to set up the tents and attend to all our needs, a group of 9 women.
The food is another level of camp food. We were well fed. We wouldn’t have gotten that quality of food in a standard restaurant: from The variety to quantity of food and the presentation. I could go on and on. In short, you can’t go wrong with food with Chef Julius Cesar and her assistants. Every day and night was a different dish. We even asked for the recipe to attempt to make it at home.
I will miss everything about this experience. Thank you Jose, Rosa, and Lordes. Truly you made a beautiful experience unforgettable.

We arrived every late afternoon to our tents already set up by the porters and the food already getting cooked for dinner. What a treat! I had one of my best experiences during the 4-days Inca-trail hike with the TreXperience. The trail and scenery is spectacular. But it could be really difficult without our experienced tour guide… read more and team (great chef and porters). Here are good and bad things about TreXperience:
Good:
– Great great team, specifically the guid (Robinson) and the chef(Julio Secar) (see below)
– Great organization of the whole trip: Everything was reasonably scheduled (wake up, food, sleep times).
– Reasonable plans: All the stuff was planned in a way that all of our group enjoyed.
– Helpful orientation before the trip and pick-up and drop-off plus storing our loguages during our trip.
Bad/Suggestions: Really cannot think of anything!
About our guide and chef:
Our tour guide(Robbinson) was one of the main factors that made our experience great. He was very patient. While he let faster members go ahead and enjoy their speed, he always followed the last person (the slowest) and made sure that they were OK and enjoying their trip. He had a really good sense of humor and he was very knowledgeable not only about the historical sites and Incas’ history, but also about the nature there. He showed us a lot of very cool stuff about how Inca’s would use nature to survive.
Also the chef was incredibly good. He made a lot of different foods (mostly Peruvian) with really good quality (every time I wished I could eat more).
And finally, none of these would be possible without our super nice local porters.

Even our horse man Ali was the best.
The tour itself is great beautiful surroundings and scenery, the trek to salkantay was difficult but worth it.
We had a couple of changes to our plans but for the better, we ended up going to the hot springs and zip lining and it was THE best experience, the zip lining is insane, i am so glad Vincente added this into our tour.
Unfortunately the views from Machu Picchu was foggy but the knowledge Vincente had about Inca history was second to none.
