The hotel we stayed in overnight was really clean and picturesque views with a great breakfast! One of the best trips I have ever done, thank you!

The support staff and Julio Cesar our chef made the trip even more amazing with delicious local Peruvian dishes and comfortable camping experiences. I promise you will not regret booking a trip with TreXperience!!

He gave us great information about incase… read more and their history, as well as the inca trails. The first day was a beautiful hike, which was challenging enough! Were it not for my faithful spouse and the never ending smiles in support by our Trexperience guides, William & Jonas, I might have given up on day two. They were always happy, always accommodating, while also making sure we continued to learn about the incredible Incan history. William’s love for his country and its history embodies all that he does on the trail. The food was unbelievable and I still can’t wrap my mind around how the cook was able to put together such tasty, filling food but also such a beautiful presentation for each meal. William & Jonas are pure souls & I’m better for having witnessed their patience & kindness.
The only real comforts on the trail were those amazing meals and the warm sleeping bag (although make sure to bring plenty of layers because there will at least be a few nights where you’re gonna need them in addition to the great sleeping bag; I also recommend paying extra for the small blow up pad). Oh, one more thing, the porters laid out hot bowls of water at the end of each hike so we could wash our hands in warm water. My husband and I used ours to take good, old-fashioned spit baths inside the tent because by evening it is always very cold and a little bit of hot water was nice. It’s the small things!
You won’t take a real shower for four full days unless you can stand the two places where there is an ice cold option; bathrooms are all along the trail but most don’t have toilet paper, almost none have a seat (ladies), & on the last part of the trail the toilets are in the ground. It was hell trying to squat after the previous days hikes & my legs weren’t happy.
Speaking of porters, my mind was blown. I couldn’t help but worry about the condition of their backs and knees as they age but so many of them have been doing this for years. Apparently the pay is good because their meals are included and they never seem to complain. After we were tucked in our tents at night we could hear them laughing among each other. They are a very strong, quiet crew and I was humbled and grateful each day as they passed us. The last evening they introduce themselves to us and their age is ranged from 20 to 47. We wouldn’t have been able to tell their ages. I feel very
privileged.
If you’re physically able, I highly recommend this life-changing event. You will meet amazing people, you’ll see views that will leave your jaw dropping, and you will find yourself physically uncomfortable and testing yourself in ways that will build character. It’s a good soul-searching trip as well. I’m forever grateful that we made the trip and would recommend William, Jonas, and this company a million times!!

Robinzon and Manolo were the best guides one could ask for; they were both incredibly versed in the trail/sites, the Inka history and culture. They took the time, and gave us the time, to explore every site on the way to Machu Picchu. And on top of that, they provided us with a wealth of personal and cultural information from their own Quechua (Inka) backgrounds, which made this a truly authentic experience.
I also have to say that our porters, Grupo Pisaq, made this trip run as smoothly and as professionally as anyone hiking 4 days in extreme altitudes could ask for. The huge, added bonus were the 3 daily meals which were local flavor and on par with any top-notch Peruvian restaurant that you’d find out in "civilization". Thank you for everything!

We also rented sleeping bags, inflatable pads and tracking poles -everything was in very good condition and served us well. The food throughout the whole trek was just out of this world. I don’t know how they managed to cook such an wholesome dishes in conditions that one finds on a hike, but it was incredible, from traditional Peruvian soups, ceviche to cakes (yes, that’s right). The guides were always helpful, cheerful and ready to say something interesting. Porters were supporting and the service they provide is unbelievable, we didn’t worry about anything (and there is a lot of things to worry about/they provide: food, camps, water, tents and other facilities), because we knew that we can rely on them.
Only time when we felt a bit uncomfortable was during the "tipping ceremony".
All in all we got to see sooo many lovely views, animals, plants and history, while hiking safely and supporting the local people.

For example, I was able to ride the emergency horse the last 20 minutes or so to the highest point when I was struggling with the altitude, and at other times was encouraged by my fellow trekkers and tour guide.
Our tour guide Mickey (Miguel) was fantastic and cheerful, often cracking jokes and sharing facts about the local flora. He was very patient and encouraging as I struggled physically with some parts of the trek, and never rushed me. He was also very passionate and knowledgeable about the Salkantay trail and Machu Pichu itself.
The views you see along the way are breathtaking, and the food is unbelievable. Our chefs Ronaldo, René and Oscar created the most delicious, wholesome and creative meals even at the most remote locations. They even made an impromptu birthday cake for my friend/ fellow trekker!
The horse boys Simon and Nelson, along with the rest of the staff, did a fantastic job at taking care of our belongings and preparing the campsites. The tents were roomy and comfortable, and we were provided with hot water bottles every night. An absolute highlight of the whole experience was definitely the beautiful clear night skies!
Overall, I couldn’t recommend the Salkantay trek and Trexperience enough – it was so incredible and well-organised, and the group felt like family.

The briefing on… read more the first night gave us all the info we needed and, as a solo female traveller, I was put at ease.
The team of chef, assistants, porters and horsemen looked after us so well! The food was insane! We never went hungry and actually I felt bad there was always food left over. And it wasn’t just good food for being out in the mountains, it was GOOD food for anywhere! I can’t believe what they were able to make, including full on cakes! And we got to experience a meal cooked in a traditional oven in the ground.
The hot springs were a delightful start to the trip, although they would have been welcome after the 3 days trekking too! :) And the breakfast served was incredible!
The hike was beautiful! We were never rushed. It was fine that there were faster and slower walkers. Our guide Edy always made sure everyone was OK.
The nights were cold in June, so pack a warm coat and make sure you have something warm to sleep in, although we were given a sleeping bag liner and hot water bottle, which was a wonderful and welcome touch.
Edy was so much fun to spend 4 days with, and he was not only friendly and caring, but super knowledgeable. You could tell he cared deeply about the local people and the mountains. He told us all about the local communities, as well as the mountains, the fauna and the culture.
Machu Picchu was the highlight! Again, Edy was great! He was an expert at storytelling and relaying the history of Machu Picchu. He gave us all the time we needed for photos and for storytelling, and he was excellent at taking the best photos in the best spots.
It was an amazing experience I wish cherish forever! And TreXperience, Edy, and the group made me feel very safe and welcome as a solo traveller. I would definitely recommend TreXperience and do tours with them again!

This was an unforgettable experience start to finish. Our guides Robinson and Manollo together with the Pisac porters group took a great care of us and the whole organisation. The… read more guides were both native Andean and gave us authentic information about their culture and heritage which we really enjoyed. They not just explained by also often showed us live how they use different plants for water, food, medicine or building materials. Robinson made all the effort for us to really enjoy our vacation, especially being flexible with the schedule to allow us to see more of the amazing sites along the way. He even negotiated with a ranger in one of the Inka sites to allow us to stay longer and watch an amazing sunset. He came down with a stomach bug on a third day but despite that he kept going and we wouldn’t have even noticed it if he hadn’t missed the breakfast. Manollo especially impressed on us all of their Andean/Inka culture and religion that is still preserved to this day in his village; he made sure we were well entertained even through the difficult parts of the hike and even went so far to play the Andean flute for us on the final descent on the second day after two very big climbs. The echoes of his playing from the surrounding peaks created a magical atmosphere that is hard to describe. The chef and his assistants were the unexpected highlight of the trip. Throughout we ate amazing and authentic food on par with the best Peruvian restaurants and it came with the amazing food decorations to make the experience feast for eyes as well. Our porters did an amazing job as well. This was our first hike like this and we had no idea how much work porters put into it and how important it is. They carried so much more stuff than we expected and were running around the mountains to set up our lunch and night camps ahead of us to make sure they were ready whenever we arrived. They woke us up every morning with a hot coca tea and hot water of hot water to wash our faces and teeth and also welcomed us to night camps with hot water to wash and relax our feet after a long day of hiking. Most of the things they did for us we didn’t even knew we needed and in few cases we needed something they literally ran across the camp so that we don’t need to wait more than few seconds. It was an outstanding level of service, way above the level we’d expect coming from Europe. Overall it was a five star experience.

I was moved to hear the stories of each member of staff and it was great to be introduced to them all on day 3 of the hike.
The only thing which i think could be improved is the clarity around how much to tip before attending – the recommended tip overall worked out around £150 per person which we hadn’t understood and therefore hadn’t brought with us beforehand, so we then went to a cash point. Of course its entirely discretionary whether and how much to tip, however more clarity before the trek would have been really appreciated so we didn’t turn up shortchanged.
