What an experience. My wife and I originally planned this trip before COVID, and it did not disappoint. We knew we wanted a guide to get the most out of… read more our time in the ruins; Watner was absolutely fantastic. Met us at our hotel, sped us through the line for the bus, and explained every step of the entry process. Then he guided us through the Incan ruins themselves, patiently answering every question, sharing stories, explaining features of the mountains and the temples, and taking lots of pictures for us. I cannot recommend him highly enough; he made a dream vacation even better.
Would highly recommend Trexperience for the 4 day Classic Inca trail and we all had a great time and was well organised.
Our guide Robinzon was great and friendly… read more and allowed all people on our group to trek at their own pace on all four days which was great.
The food provided on all four days was the best food I have had while at cusco and is something you definitely will look forward to on all four days.
If you’re thinking of treking the Inca trail, you wouldn’t be left disappointed if you go with trexperience like all 8 of us in our group
Amazing experience from start to finish. Our tour guide Vincent did an outstanding job and kept us safe and informed the whole time. The whole staff was professional… read more and super hard working.
My wife and I did a private 4 day tour where we had a private guide, 5 porters and a cook. My wife was 6 months pregnant, but was able to hike the whole thing with no issue. It can be a bit challenging, but as long as you acclimate like 3-4 days before in Cusco or the sacred valley you will be fine.
We booked 4 months out and they maintained god communication. They were flexible on meeting up 2 days before the trip to give us the overview and the duffels we would pack. Of note you can put more weight in your duffles as the trip progresses, because as you eat food the overall load of the porters lightens.
The first day is easy. The staff pitches camp for you in full each day. And they set up a private dining tent. The second day is challenging since you do about ~4200 ft of elevation change. There are a lot of steep stone steps after you come down from dead woman’s pass. Poles help a lot, but your knees will be sore after. The third day is some good ascent, but not as bad as the day before, but be prepared for a long day with lots of steps down, it is insanely steep, the last day is easy and Machu Picchu is great.
Lunch in Agua Caliente is good, but you have to wait a few hours for the train, it only runs once in the afternoon. We got an hour massage to kill time and sally enjoyed it.
As a recommendation I would say the more time you have to acclimate the better, the altitude can take down strong men. Also read about the area in advance and learn about Inca history, it makes it much more enjoyable. Bring extra to tip the guides and staff. You will have an immense amount of respect for what they do by the end of trip.
You will not regret booking this hike.
I went on the Classic Inca Trail 4 day 3 night hike. We had two absolutely amazing guides Sarah and Charlie. They went above and beyond to make sure we… read more had everything we needed to be comfortable and have a incredible time. I expected to eat well but the food exceeded my expectations! I thought we ate like kings and queens! I didn’t bring gloves because it was hot during the day in Cusco but I wish that I had because we ended up in an ice pellet storm on day 2. It was challenging but SO rewarding!!! I am so glad I chose to see Machu Picchu this way instead of the train and bus. Seeing it through the sun gate was fantastic! I did train before this hike and would recommend doing that because it is much harder to hike at altitude! Overall I had the absolute time of my life!!! Would highly recommend Trexperience and would do it myself again!
Our guide William and the assistant guide johnner were both brilliant and made the trip fun and engaging for all 10 of us doing the trail. Their energy was infectious… read more and they were extremely accommodating of the different needs of all members of the group.
Given that we were eating on the mountains, they standard of the food was incredible – it was very varied and better than most of the food you would buy in the restaurants in the city. The portion sizes were large and there was always more than enough for all members and then some.
I’m not sure if I would’ve had the same experience if I used another provider so I was very happy with my choice to go with trexperience on this occasion.
Great tour led by a great guide, Fernando Benavides! Fernando was always well informed, had the logistics figured out and was very accommodating throughout the entire trip.
We did both a half day Cusco city tour and a full day Sacred Valley tour with Jhony and it was absolutely awesome! Jhony did a fantastic job taking us… read more to all the best spots and explaining all of the history and culture. He is the last Great Inka King! He really took care of our needs. My dad got tired along the way and Vincent was still able to provide a fulfilling tour both on foot (for myself) and by van (for my dad).
We had somewhere to be directly after the tour and him and Donny, our driver were kind enough to offer driving us straight there after the tour!
Not only was our tour filled with breathtaking views and informative lessons, it was welcoming and filled with even better people! I would highly recommend this to others.

We had an outstanding experience on the 5-day Lares to Short Inca trail with Juvenal as our guide, Lorenzo as our chef, Joao as assistant chef, and Toribio as our… read more porter. We were a small group (3) and the entire crew took incredible care of us to share the magical culture and scenery in the Sacred Valley. Please see the end of the review for a note on preparing for the altitude and general hike difficulty.
First and foremost, we thank our amazing guide, Juvenal, for bringing his in-depth knowledge for and love of the culture and people in the highlands of Lares. By communicating with local people (in Quechua), Juvenal was able to deliver an unparalleled experience of the incredible lifestyle, culture, and practices of the native people here. We were extremely moved and honored to share beautiful moments with the wonderful people of the highlands.
Juvenal also shared in-depth knowledge of the Inca and pre-Inca civilizations throughout the trek, and especially on the way to the stunningly beautiful and jaw-dropping ruins at Machu Picchu. The short Inca trail was an excellent way to reach Machu Picchu through the Sun gate (stunning view from here) in a single day’s hike.
We are so grateful for all of Juvenal’s knowledge and warm spirit. He makes a point to treat all people (not just us, but local people, the rest of the crew etc.) with kindness and respect. We couldn’t ask for a better guide for our experience. Thank you Juvenal!
Our head chef, Lorenzo, and his assistant Joao were absolutely incredible as well. Lorenzo blew our minds with how delicious (and even aesthetically pleasing) he could prepare meals while camping at 13,000 feet. My partner is vegetarian and he prepared an elaborate collection of nutritious and tailored meals for her along the way. He even prepared special meals when we both were struggling a bit with the altitude. Thank you Lorenzo and Joao!
Finally, our porter, Toribio, never ceased to impress with how quickly and safely he transported the our and the crew’s gear with his team of mules. It is astonishing how well he and his mules move through such a difficult landscape. Thank you Toribio!
We could never have anticipated how incredible and enriching this experience would be for all three of us. Not only did we see some the most incredible views of our lives, but we also learned and experienced an extremely rare and beautiful way of life that the native people of the highlands carry on. Their strength and kindness will stay with us for our entire lives.
A quick note on the demands of the trek itself. The three of us (ages 29-32, active and relatively experienced hikers) found the Lares portion very challenging due to it being at an altitude that none of us had hiked in before. We also made the mistake of not giving ourselves ample time to acclimate to the altitude in Cusco before starting the trek (and also tried to do it without altitude medication etc.). The coca tea/leaves helped to an extent but we absolutely recommend taking time (2-3 days) to acclimate in Cusco and taking altitude medication if you (like us) are not used to hiking at altitude. That way, nothing (besides the usual challenges of a difficult hike) gets in the way of your experience.
Even besides the altitude, this is a very challenging trek, so make sure you are comfortable with steep inclines/declines and heights in general before hiking the Andes. If you are up for the challenge, it is absolutely incredible!
Thank you Juvenal, Lorenzo, Joao, Toribio, and all of the beautiful people we met along the way for an unforgettable experience!!
I have hiked quit a lot, but this experience is different and unique with porters and chiefs services. I highly recommend it to anyone who don’t mind outdoor living… read more for a few days. More specifically, here are what I like and some thoughts
Like:
1. The porters are working very hard for very little, and they are very attentive, eager to please if we need anything. I would suggest to bring a lot more changes to tip them.
2. Our guides, Carlos and Joao are very personable and fun, knowable and experienced. I have enjoyed the interaction with them greatly. I wish I asked them a lot more questions, cultural and personal.
3. The chief ( Julio) and meals are excellent, I am amazed how did he manage to produce the meals with beautiful presentation under such primitive conditions? Again, the porters bring in everything include cooking stove, pots and pans, propane etc Tip is: be prepared to eat three square meal a day!:-)
Suggestions:
1. Company could ask us to indicate the t-shirt size ahead of time online to make it easier for the guides.
2. I would like to stick to the same sleeping bag and pillow, so a system to put our name there would be helpful.
3. For travelers, I wish I read more about the history so I can learn even more from the trip.
It was a wonderful experience, the trail/place and the people have touched me deeply, and I’d do it again!

For anyone who is looking for another option than the Inca Trail, this is a great scenic option! From time of booking through Tour Radar, TreXperience had impeccable communication and… read more provided helpful information. We met our tour guide, Filio, in Cusco the night before and honestly we had the best time with him over the 4 days. He was great, funny and knowledgeable about all things Inca. He even taught us some Quechan. We were very lucky as there was only my husband and I so it became a private tour (great price!) and Filio was very patient with our pace. He was also a great photographer. Pedro was also an amazing cook and we could not fault any of the dishes. Was delicious so definitely consider booking via TreXperience as they are also a local company at a very good price compared to other Australian companies we were looking at!

My friend and I have chronic knee pain so we walked slowly and were always behind the rest of the group. Robinzon was very patient, always walking behind us, assuring us to go with our own pace, always saying "step by step, go with your own pace and enjoy the hike!" :)
Our chef, Julio Cesar was amazing. I don’t even know how he could manage preparing and cooking 2-3 different types of food so quickly. Both the taste and the presentation of the meals were great.
Every step of the way was scheduled nicely and went on plan. I would highly recommend Trexperience.

The team cater to your every need with beautiful extra touches such as hot water bottles for bed and explaining the stars. I cannot believe how much we have squeezed into 4 days it’s awesome. I could not recommend this highly enough for anyone wanting to stretch themselves all while seeing incredibly beautiful sights. I never expected this to be so much fun, and while it is hard work it’s not gruelling at all and has left me with a sense of pride that will last a lifetime. Thank you Bernabe and the rest of the Trexperience team for a unique experience I will never forget!!
We had an extremely good experience with our group of 8 people on the 4D Inca trail. Our guides Robinzon and Walter were social, experienced and capable to help us… read more and push forward (even during hard times, because we suffered from stomach issues).
Guide Robinzon emphasized to enjoy, look around and dont Worry about the time of arrival. He really won our trust. Sometimes we needed a bit more detail at the final day at Machu Picchu.
Guide Walter restarted to hike as a guide with our English group, and we think het also had good talent +is a nice, modest guy.
Don’t hesitate to book with Trexperience; a smaller organization run by local people.

Our tour guide is Luis Jose Flores. We could call him Pepe but we called him MASTER after 2 days. He’s very calm, patience, funny, honest and has so much knowledge about Inca history and he loves and passionate about his country. He showed us how to pray to Pachamama with coca leaves. We all love it. He’s very well organized and timing our schedule very well making sure we have the best time. He’s even brought us the train station at the end of the trip and tell us where to wait for the train to go back to Cusco. We had so much great memory with him.
Our chefs Raymundo is an amazing chef. Menu change everyday from breakfast to lunch and dinner. We all love teatime everyday before dinner with freshly made popcorn right beside us. All the meals he made were so fresh and delicious. We all love his caramelized banana flambé with Pisco.
Porters we had 11 porters for 5 people. They work so hard. They carried our personal belongings, foods, tents, stove..every time we arrived to campsite they applauses us and bring us warm water to clean our face, hands to our tents. Warm Coca tea every morning to our tents and again warm water with their smile. They treated us like KINGS and QUEENS. Once we wanted to try to carry their backpack to see how heavy they’re carrying to climb up and down to mountains. We appreciate a lot for what they’re doing to give us the most comfortable possible.
TreXperience is very well organized for prepare our pick up dropping off on time and very friendly driver. Thank you for this great experience. I appreciate very much for the whole team made my vacation so memorable .

We had a fantastic 4 day hiking tour to Machu Picchu on the Luxury Private tour. The hikes are challenging and so beautiful. (Some on the internet made it sound… read more nearly impossible which it was not) We hiked about 10 km every day and reached camp by the afternoon and could rest for the next day. Edy, our guide, coordinated the 18 porters and the cooks to make our trip extraordinary. Edy like the porters is Quetchua, the descendents of the Inca. He taught us a lot about the culture, history, and mystical stories. He made us realize that the Inca trail is so special because it runs through the sacred valley bounded by the sacred mountains and river. The stunning views and learning about the Incas and the Quechua made the hike seem other worldly. The service was extraordinary by Trexperience. Our porters not only carried our things but also decorated our tents with pillows and dolls. The luxury tour provides a hot shower each night and massage. Vanessa gave us first class massages after the hike. Valentine, the head chef, made us beautiful, tasty meals and the food is served on real plates and utensils. I am also pleased to support Trexperience which is owned by two Quechuan brothers. The Inca trail provides great economic support to the Quechua and they are very happy to share this sacred valley with the hikers. We highly recommend booking your trip through Trexperience.

I had my reservations about the physical demands of the trek (I have asthma and my physical fitness is not amazing) but was supported by the group and Trexperience team to complete it. For example, I was able to ride the emergency horse the last 20 minutes or so to the highest point when I was struggling with the altitude, and at other times was encouraged by my fellow trekkers and tour guide.
Our tour guide Mickey (Miguel) was fantastic and cheerful, often cracking jokes and sharing facts about the local flora. He was very patient and encouraging as I struggled physically with some parts of the trek, and never rushed me. He was also very passionate and knowledgeable about the Salkantay trail and Machu Pichu itself.
The views you see along the way are breathtaking, and the food is unbelievable. Our chefs Ronaldo, René and Oscar created the most delicious, wholesome and creative meals even at the most remote locations. They even made an impromptu birthday cake for my friend/ fellow trekker!
The horse boys Simon and Nelson, along with the rest of the staff, did a fantastic job at taking care of our belongings and preparing the campsites. The tents were roomy and comfortable, and we were provided with hot water bottles every night. An absolute highlight of the whole experience was definitely the beautiful clear night skies!
Overall, I couldn’t recommend the Salkantay trek and Trexperience enough – it was so incredible and well-organised, and the group felt like family.

The food is another level of camp food. We were well fed. We wouldn’t have gotten that quality of food in a standard restaurant: from The variety to quantity of food and the presentation. I could go on and on. In short, you can’t go wrong with food with Chef Julius Cesar and her assistants. Every day and night was a different dish. We even asked for the recipe to attempt to make it at home.
I will miss everything about this experience. Thank you Jose, Rosa, and Lordes. Truly you made a beautiful experience unforgettable.

Robinzon made sure we knew what was going on for each part of our trip and that we were taken care of- even checking in on mom the day after our trip!
