Edwin was a great guide. Super friendly and helpful. Great accomadation and activities all very well organised. Thank you so much!
My husband and I booked this trek with another couple. It was great from start to finish. Our guide, Nilo, was very knowledgeable and patient with us, especially when we… read more were struggling with the altitude or with the trek itself. This was a challenging experience but a rewarding one. The chef, Celso was the best. Every meal was perfect. He even made me a birthday cake for my 40th bday, which was so thoughtful. The sous chef, Juan was great too and was always around to help. The horseman, Victor, worked hard preparing the campsite for us every day.
Everyone on this team worked extremely hard to make sure we were all happy. I’m very glad we booked this trip and had the team that we did!
Awesome 4 days I will never forgot!

Campsites were really great equipped, with our own toilet, good tents and proper sleeping bags (up to -10deg, so we didn’t get cold at night). And food at the campsite is as just great! Lunches and dinners with a few courser, breakfast full of options like pancakes, fruits, eggs. Everything was super delicious! Our guide JJ was incredibly amazing. He explained us everything about Incas culture and habits. He told us story of each temple we passed. Fully recommend to experience the Inca trail with this company!
This was a great experience! I would recommend it to all! The inca trail was beautiful and our tour guide, Pepe, was wonderful! He gave us great information about incase… read more and their history, as well as the inca trails. The first day was a beautiful hike, which was challenging enough! The second day was all about Machu Picchu. We spent the night in a hotel, which was refreshing. I recommend this tour to anyone who is a hiker!

It was amazing, but a very hard Trek.
Honestly I dont know if we had booked it, knowing it was that hard…. Nevertheless this is an experience that we will never forget and made us really proud of our achievement.
Nature, Inka’s elements with all their history, great food and a lot of fun. I think this is the best away to get to machu picchu!
Thanks to our guides… read more NILO and YONER I had the opportunity to better understand the Inka colture and to have a lot of fun! These 2 guys are incredible! As well as the chef’s team that provided us such great food, also the dishes for the vegetarian were incredible. I raccomando you
Amilcar, the chef; Elmer the suis chef y Mozo Hernozo a frat waiter!
I suggest also to do the inka trail and not other trails because of alla the Inka elements and because once I get to machu pichu, I swear, it will taste different than just taking a bus or a train in one day!

They went above and beyond to make sure we… read more had everything we needed to be comfortable and have a incredible time. I expected to eat well but the food exceeded my expectations! I thought we ate like kings and queens! I didn’t bring gloves because it was hot during the day in Cusco but I wish that I had because we ended up in an ice pellet storm on day 2. It was challenging but SO rewarding!!! I am so glad I chose to see Machu Picchu this way instead of the train and bus. Seeing it through the sun gate was fantastic! I did train before this hike and would recommend doing that because it is much harder to hike at altitude! Overall I had the absolute time of my life!!! Would highly recommend Trexperience and would do it myself again!

Robinzon and Manolo were the best guides one could ask for; they were both incredibly versed in the trail/sites, the Inka history and culture. They took the time, and gave us the time, to explore every site on the way to Machu Picchu. And on top of that, they provided us with a wealth of personal and cultural information from their own Quechua (Inka) backgrounds, which made this a truly authentic experience.
I also have to say that our porters, Grupo Pisaq, made this trip run as smoothly and as professionally as anyone hiking 4 days in extreme altitudes could ask for. The huge, added bonus were the 3 daily meals which were local flavor and on par with any top-notch Peruvian restaurant that you’d find out in "civilization". Thank you for everything!
It was an amazing experience!! Two awesome guides, Edi and Sol who make the all experience magical! 4 hard days but totally worth it. Beautiful team and an unforgettable adventure!… read more Trexperience all the way!

My wife and I did a private 4 day tour where we had a private guide, 5 porters and a cook. My wife was 6 months pregnant, but was able to hike the whole thing with no issue. It can be a bit challenging, but as long as you acclimate like 3-4 days before in Cusco or the sacred valley you will be fine.
We booked 4 months out and they maintained god communication. They were flexible on meeting up 2 days before the trip to give us the overview and the duffels we would pack. Of note you can put more weight in your duffles as the trip progresses, because as you eat food the overall load of the porters lightens.
The first day is easy. The staff pitches camp for you in full each day. And they set up a private dining tent. The second day is challenging since you do about ~4200 ft of elevation change. There are a lot of steep stone steps after you come down from dead woman’s pass. Poles help a lot, but your knees will be sore after. The third day is some good ascent, but not as bad as the day before, but be prepared for a long day with lots of steps down, it is insanely steep, the last day is easy and Machu Picchu is great.
Lunch in Agua Caliente is good, but you have to wait a few hours for the train, it only runs once in the afternoon. We got an hour massage to kill time and sally enjoyed it.
As a recommendation I would say the more time you have to acclimate the better, the altitude can take down strong men. Also read about the area in advance and learn about Inca history, it makes it much more enjoyable. Bring extra to tip the guides and staff. You will have an immense amount of respect for what they do by the end of trip.
You will not regret booking this hike.

I’m not sure if I would’ve had the same experience if I used another provider so I was very happy with my choice to go with trexperience on this occasion.

Carlos was wonderful and gentle with me when I struggled with the heights and the body pain. He even helped carry my daypack.

Even at camp, chef not only prepared a wonderful variety of more than we could eat, but the presentation was unbelievable. We even had fresh flowers on the tables! After hiking all morning, a terrific lunch was served, At the end of a full day of trekking, we enjoyed “tea time” popcorn, crackers and jam, hot chocolate, and of course tea. Not only was our tour filled with breathtaking views and informative lessons, it was welcoming and filled with even better people! I would highly recommend this to others.

For example, I was able to ride the emergency horse the last 20 minutes or so to the highest point when I was struggling with the altitude, and at other times was encouraged by my fellow trekkers and tour guide.
Our tour guide Mickey (Miguel) was fantastic and cheerful, often cracking jokes and sharing facts about the local flora. He was very patient and encouraging as I struggled physically with some parts of the trek, and never rushed me. He was also very passionate and knowledgeable about the Salkantay trail and Machu Pichu itself.
The views you see along the way are breathtaking, and the food is unbelievable. Our chefs Ronaldo, René and Oscar created the most delicious, wholesome and creative meals even at the most remote locations. They even made an impromptu birthday cake for my friend/ fellow trekker!
The horse boys Simon and Nelson, along with the rest of the staff, did a fantastic job at taking care of our belongings and preparing the campsites. The tents were roomy and comfortable, and we were provided with hot water bottles every night. An absolute highlight of the whole experience was definitely the beautiful clear night skies!
Overall, I couldn’t recommend the Salkantay trek and Trexperience enough – it was so incredible and well-organised, and the group felt like family.

Communication from Trexperience in the run up to the trek was fantastic. The whole trek was organised really well, from collection from our hostel on the first day to drop off on the last day (including collecting our luggage from the office and then the onward travel from the office back to our hostel). The TreXperience team for my group consisted of tour guide Nilo Uscamayta, chef Celso, sous-chef Juan, and horseman Victor. I highly recommend this team – every single member worked so hard at making us feel welcome and as comfortable as possible on this journey. Nilo was very patient, empathetic and knowledgeable – some of us struggled during parts of the trek with injury or illness, and Nilo was very patient even though we moved slowly. He always encouraged us to move at a comfortable pace. He always asked how we were feeling and if there’s anything he could do to help. Nilo was very knowledgeable and was consistently giving us interesting information on the landscape, culture and history of the region. He also knew the best spots in Machu Picchu to capture beautiful photos and was always enthusiastic to take photos for us.
Every meal prepared by chef Celso and sous-chef Juan was impressive. They are truly talented to be able to prepare delicious meals with just a few tools and without a working kitchen. They even found out that it was my friend’s birthday and whipped up a personalized cake for her! The Pachamanca meal was very interesting and really demonstrated the passion that the chef and sous-chef have for cooking.
