Nature, Inka’s elements with all their history, great food and a lot of fun. I think this is the best away to get to machu picchu!
Thanks to our guides… read more NILO and YONER I had the opportunity to better understand the Inka colture and to have a lot of fun! These 2 guys are incredible! As well as the chef’s team that provided us such great food, also the dishes for the vegetarian were incredible. I raccomando you
Amilcar, the chef; Elmer the suis chef y Mozo Hernozo a frat waiter!
I suggest also to do the inka trail and not other trails because of alla the Inka elements and because once I get to machu pichu, I swear, it will taste different than just taking a bus or a train in one day!
Amazing experience from start to finish. Our tour guide Vincent did an outstanding job and kept us safe and informed the whole time. The whole staff was professional… read more and super hard working.
My wife and I did a private 4 day tour where we had a private guide, 5 porters and a cook. My wife was 6 months pregnant, but was able to hike the whole thing with no issue. It can be a bit challenging, but as long as you acclimate like 3-4 days before in Cusco or the sacred valley you will be fine.
We booked 4 months out and they maintained god communication. They were flexible on meeting up 2 days before the trip to give us the overview and the duffels we would pack. Of note you can put more weight in your duffles as the trip progresses, because as you eat food the overall load of the porters lightens.
The first day is easy. The staff pitches camp for you in full each day. And they set up a private dining tent. The second day is challenging since you do about ~4200 ft of elevation change. There are a lot of steep stone steps after you come down from dead woman’s pass. Poles help a lot, but your knees will be sore after. The third day is some good ascent, but not as bad as the day before, but be prepared for a long day with lots of steps down, it is insanely steep, the last day is easy and Machu Picchu is great.
Lunch in Agua Caliente is good, but you have to wait a few hours for the train, it only runs once in the afternoon. We got an hour massage to kill time and sally enjoyed it.
As a recommendation I would say the more time you have to acclimate the better, the altitude can take down strong men. Also read about the area in advance and learn about Inca history, it makes it much more enjoyable. Bring extra to tip the guides and staff. You will have an immense amount of respect for what they do by the end of trip.
You will not regret booking this hike.
This was the most impressive excursion I have ever participated from start to finish.
The journey you take is breathtaking right from the start it passed all my expectations.
This… read more was all thanks to ( Carlos Ccolcca ) the tour guide who guided us all through the 31 miles of mind blowing sights and Inca ruins , he was very well spoke which helped me been from the UK , his undertaking of the tour and Knowledge was over whelming such a credit to the company ( Trexperience) his chief ( Julio Cesar ) produced the most amazing ,flavoursome dishes from early morning to Happy hour to the evening it was a pleasure from start to finish and much needed with accomplishing the passes through this magical Inca Trail.

Thanks Carlos and the team made this life achievement the best experience it could of been for me.

The Inca Trail was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. Expensive but worth every penny. They did everything in their power to make our experience the best… read more it could have been. The food was amazing, and there was a lot! We woke up with a coca tea every morning, a huge varied breakfast, beautiful lunch later on, “happy hour” with lots of snacks and hot drinks followed by buffet dinner with delicious local dishes and nutritious food. There were plenty delicious vegetarian options. On our treks, the views were breathtaking. The trekking was at points challenging on the second day but accessible to all levels and very rewarding. The tour guides were very supportive and always making sure everyone was doing well. Eddy and Juan had a lot of knowledge about the Incas and beautiful stories to tell us about their culture. They were clearly very passionate and love their job. I would recommend this experience to anyone who is lucky enough to do it!
The trip was amazing! Anything- from the organization and transportation, through the DELICIOUS food to the guidance through the sites was impeccable. Way exceeding expectations! Robinson and Sol were amazing tour guides!! They were so informative and helpful throughout the 4 days and made sure the whole group were having an amazing time.
The chefs… read more were amazing- best food I’ve ever eaten! There was so much food and they catered so well for all dietary requirements. The porters were so good as well, they worked so hard for us and still seemed so happy. Amazing trip overall
This was an unforgettable experience start to finish. Our guides Robinson and Manollo together with the Pisac porters group took a great care of us and the whole organisation. The… read more guides were both native Andean and gave us authentic information about their culture and heritage which we really enjoyed. They not just explained by also often showed us live how they use different plants for water, food, medicine or building materials. Robinson made all the effort for us to really enjoy our vacation, especially being flexible with the schedule to allow us to see more of the amazing sites along the way. He even negotiated with a ranger in one of the Inka sites to allow us to stay longer and watch an amazing sunset. He came down with a stomach bug on a third day but despite that he kept going and we wouldn’t have even noticed it if he hadn’t missed the breakfast. Manollo especially impressed on us all of their Andean/Inka culture and religion that is still preserved to this day in his village; he made sure we were well entertained even through the difficult parts of the hike and even went so far to play the Andean flute for us on the final descent on the second day after two very big climbs. The echoes of his playing from the surrounding peaks created a magical atmosphere that is hard to describe. The chef and his assistants were the unexpected highlight of the trip. Throughout we ate amazing and authentic food on par with the best Peruvian restaurants and it came with the amazing food decorations to make the experience feast for eyes as well. Our porters did an amazing job as well. This was our first hike like this and we had no idea how much work porters put into it and how important it is. They carried so much more stuff than we expected and were running around the mountains to set up our lunch and night camps ahead of us to make sure they were ready whenever we arrived. They woke us up every morning with a hot coca tea and hot water of hot water to wash our faces and teeth and also welcomed us to night camps with hot water to wash and relax our feet after a long day of hiking. Most of the things they did for us we didn’t even knew we needed and in few cases we needed something they literally ran across the camp so that we don’t need to wait more than few seconds. It was an outstanding level of service, way above the level we’d expect coming from Europe. Overall it was a five star experience.
Excellent!!! This 2-day short Inca Trail was definitely worth it. Tour guides Franklin and Sara were super welcoming, extremely friendly, and very knowledgeable about the area and its fascinating history.… read more They always put our needs first and were very organised when it came to transport and arrangements. Our head Chef, Walter cooked some of the most delicious meals we’ve ever had, much less on a mountain backpacking trip! The food was exquisite! JJ and Filio went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and all our goals were achieved, sometimes literally giving us the backpack covers off their backs! They were patient, positive, and motivating through all the challenges of this amazing trail. You absolutely must ask for JJ and Filio! They made an amazing trip absolutely outstanding. Book your trip today with JJ and Filio, and ask for Walter as your Chef!!
Unfortunately, it was too challenging for us (in our 60s) so if you’re over 55 our advice is not to attempt it unless you are superfit. However, If you are… read more planning to do the 4 day challenge, TreXPerience is most highly recommended. We trekked with Charly – who took full care of us and when it was clear that we would not be able to carry on, he and TreXperience were supreme in their support of us arranging to have us accompanied from the trek back to where we could be collected by motorbike and then taken to km.82, where a driver picked us up and took us to a hotel which the company had arranged for us. The company (and Charly when he could connect to data) were in constant contact with us advising us on how to make the journey by transport to Aguascalientes and onward to Machu Picchu where we met up with the group again. Everyone (Charley, Tom, Coronel, porters and drivers), where outstanding in their care of us and, they will be our first of call for any other tours when we come back to Cusco. Charly is also impressive as an historian and passionate about his culture.
Did the Inca trail with Jose Luis, Filio, and Senche (the chef) – what an incredible experience!
Knowledgeable and entertaining guides, amazing food and the huge team of porters… read more took care of everything so all we had to worry about was the hike! Really couldn’t have asked for a better experience, they gave us every opportunity to stop and take photos and were so patient with my aching legs.

Our tour guide, Nilo, was incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating. He spoke great English and was really fun to hang out with 4 days. The tour also included 2 chefs and a porter. Our chefs Valvino and Luis Miguel were unreal. They made 5 course meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner out of a tent. Everything we had was SO good. And they woke us up every morning with hot tea and hot water to wash our faces. Our porter, Martin was so sweet. He set up our tent at every rest stop so we could rest in it and had camp set up and taken down so fast every day.
The entire crew was so hard working and nice and accommodating. I highly recommend Trexperience for any tour you’re thinking of booking and I highly recommend going to Peru for your next trip. It’s an absolutely beautiful country and they welcome tourism.
Amazing tour with this company and our guide Franklin. He was very knowledgeable about each location and it’s history.
Trexperience really does tick all the boxes. JJ and Yoner were awesome guides and were flexible to the variety of paces within the group. JJ was very knowledgeable and gave… read more us an extensive history lesson throughout. The porters simply are not human, the trip would be impossible without them. What the chefs were capable of using camp kitchens still boggles the mind; so much variety and taste. They really do get the little details right, hot/cold water to wash the day off, hot coca tea before you even leave the tent, regular water where possible. Even if other providers are cheaper, go with this company!

The Pacha Manga which is a traditional earth roast of vegetables and meats was one of the most delicious dishes I’ve ever had, and I’m from NYC and live in Mexico so I’m picky about my cuisine. Jorge was the head chef on my tour and he made us 5 star meals with limited resources in the middle of the Andes—it was a talent to behold. Demetrio and Julian were Jorge’s helpers and they were incredible. The entire team did everything with so much care and love and I’m grateful to have met them. Vicente my tour guide will forever be a brother, he was kind and knowledgeable and really showed us the time of our lives. I feel lucky to have crossed paths with him. If you can help it please ask for Vicente as a tour guide along with Jorge, Demetrio, y Julian. I’m a world traveler for hobby and work, and Vicente was the best tour guide I’ve ever encountered like inthe world. I can not recommend this tour and/or these guys enough.

TreXperience is a world class tour operator that puts a high priority on safety and customer service. We highly recommend them! Our family of four (with 18 and… read more 13 year old) booked the 4D/3N Classic Inca Trail.
I was recovering from a prior cold/illness before the trek began so was already at a deficit. When you add in the unpredictability of altitude sickness, anything can happen. Needless to say, I struggled significantly to make it to campsite 1. I was extremely fatigued, nauseous, coughing, and my breathing was extremely labored.
Unfortunately, I didn’t sleep well that evening, could hear wheezing and my cough seem to get much worse. Knowing that Day 2 was the most difficult, to ascend an additional 4,000 feet at a very steep incline to reach a maximum altitude of 13,795 feet, I knew my physical limitations and didn’t want to put the entire group at risk. Therefore, I decided to descend.
I expected one of the porters to accompany me down, but it was not allowed. Instead, one of our tour guides, Sarita, escorted me down the mountain and went above and beyond to assist me and my 13 year old son (who voluntarily descended to look after his mother).
My daughter (18 year old) and husband continued onward and had an amazing experience. The trek was challenging albeit quite rewarding. Taking the trail gives you incomparable views from the sun gate that you cannot get trying to do Machu Picchu on your own.
We highly recommend TreXperience and ask for Sarita and Eddie!!
Sarita was AMAZING! Her English speaking skills were exceptional. She was kind, patient, and encouraging, telling me to go at my own pace and to stay hydrated. She was always willing to help, answer any questions, and provided great background knowledge about the Peruvian culture.
After a successful descent, Sarita went even further above and beyond. She assisted us in making hotel arrangements in Ollantaytambo and Agua Calientes, booked our train and bus tickets, escorted us to the train and hotel, offered to show us the Ollantaytambo archeological site or textile markets in our downtime, and successfully reunited us with my husband and daughter as they hiked into Machu Picchu on Day 4. Sarita was able to persuade the park ranger to allow us entry to the top terrace (Sun Gate ) to capture the postcard family photo of Machu Picchu.
All of the logistics of coordinating transport, lodging, and reuniting us with the group was not expected but greatly appreciated. We were very grateful to have Sarita by our side to help us with this process. Thank you TreXperience for being an outstanding tour operator with excellent guides.

We arrived at around 12:20pm but we were a little hungry, so we asked him if it’s possible we could eat. He agreed and told us to enjoy 1 hour for lunch then the tour would start afterwards. The tour didn’t finish until 5pm-ish so just calculate the time he spent with us. He took his time with us and there were only two of us in our private tour. So he really went into the details. He also took amazing pictures of us!! I would definitely ask him to be my tour guide again when I come back to Peru! And yes, he got a well deserved tip! ;)

Our guide Adolfo had lots of great history and stories to tell, which were usually accompanied by ridiculously good food cooked by Amilcar and his team. The camping equipment was all of a very good standard, and the added touch of a hot water bottle on night one which was the coldest (-5C degrees) was hugely appreciated by all. In addition, the logistics of our trip w ere incredibly well organised thanks to Amilcar, Elmer, Wilburgh and Cecilio, meaning that nothing was amiss and we did everything in good time.
We were very unlucky with our weather on Day 5, and unfortunately the clouds never parted for us to get a full view of Machu Picchu, which Adolfo told us had never happened in his 15 years of experience (cries inside). Nonetheless, he was very cheerful and told us all the history very enthusiastically to still make it a memorable experience.
If we trek in Cusco again, I think Trexperience would certainly be our choice and our group would all highly recommend to others.
Thanks Adolfo and team!

Robinzon and Manolo were the best guides one could ask for; they were both incredibly versed in the trail/sites, the Inka history and culture. They took the time, and gave us the time, to explore every site on the way to Machu Picchu. And on top of that, they provided us with a wealth of personal and cultural information from their own Quechua (Inka) backgrounds, which made this a truly authentic experience.
I also have to say that our porters, Grupo Pisaq, made this trip run as smoothly and as professionally as anyone hiking 4 days in extreme altitudes could ask for. The huge, added bonus were the 3 daily meals which were local flavor and on par with any top-notch Peruvian restaurant that you’d find out in "civilization". Thank you for everything!
