We had awesome time with great food from Rolando and very knowledgeable guides Soledad and Robinson and very hard working porters lead by Toribio.

The food was great – I ate better in the mountains than I do at home lol. The views are amazing. It’s an unforgettable experience.

A special mention to… read more our guide Herbeth, our cook Valentine and the rest of the team who supported us throughout. Herbeth was extremely knowledgeable, supporting and friendly, a great person and guide. And without Valentine and his excellent and plentiful food we definitely wouldn’t have made it!
Weather was excellent too but do bring warm clothes for June.
I would recommend this trip to anyone (who has good fitness) to complete this trek!
The four day trek is a unique way to learn about and appreciate the local culture and nature. We had taken the train to Macchu Picchu a few years earlier… read more but the hiking trip really puts this unique wonder in perspective. Carlos and Joao were awesome guides; knowledgeable, experienced, patient. Given the restrictions by the ministry of culture— e.g. the locations of campsites and the facilities, the tour company has done an awesome job. The food by the chef Julio Cesar, was amazing: a high end introduction to the Peruvian cuisine. A team of porters had to transport everything on foot up to the three camp sites and cook the food on site. Everything was provided by the team- tours of Inca sites along the way and of course the tour of Machu Picchu at the end.
Amazing experience, combination of hiking in amazing mountains lead by our tour guide Nilo. Getting to know a peruvian culture, which Nilo explained. Also eating superb food prepared by… read more chef Vasilio and su chef Eusebio. The food was extremely good. :) I have taken the possibility to have most of my load carried by horses which were lead by Frank. I have to recommend this tour, it’s perfect experience.
My tour guide was Agustin and he was amazing! He was on time, flexible and very informative! When we got off the train, Augustin had my name written on a… read more piece of paper waving it to make sure we could see him! We arrived at around 12:20pm but we were a little hungry, so we asked him if it’s possible we could eat. He agreed and told us to enjoy 1 hour for lunch then the tour would start afterwards. The tour didn’t finish until 5pm-ish so just calculate the time he spent with us. He took his time with us and there were only two of us in our private tour. So he really went into the details. He also took amazing pictures of us!! I would definitely ask him to be my tour guide again when I come back to Peru! And yes, he got a well deserved tip! ;)
We had an amazing experience! The 2day activity had a nice balance of physical exersion, sight seeing, and culture. Our tour lead, Pepe, was very knowledgeable and fun. We are… read more so happy with this experience.
I have spent an absolutely amazing (and exhausting) 4 days hiking the Inca Trail with Trexperience. I travelled with friends to Peru so that we could complete this challenge together… read more and the experience did not disappoint. Our guides Charly and Sarita have been attentive, knowledgeable, friendly and have truly made this adventure for us! Did the Inca trail with Jose Luis, Filio, and Senche (the chef) – what an incredible experience!
Knowledgeable and entertaining guides, amazing food and the huge team of porters… read more took care of everything so all we had to worry about was the hike! Really couldn’t have asked for a better experience, they gave us every opportunity to stop and take photos and were so patient with my aching legs.

The three-course meals and varied breakfasts served every day by the traveling chef were always well received. The porters heaved tents and sleeping bags ahead to prepare the campsite for us each day.
Our tour guides Edy and Juan were very knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic and I really enjoyed their company throughout.
Overall a great experience. Just note that you will be sharing the trail with your group, other groups, and the 20+ porters for each group. it can feel a bit crowded at times.
Also, if you are from a country without a tipping culture – and especially if you’re on a tight budget – be aware that there is a strong expectation of significant tips at the end for the guides, chef and porters that accompany you along the way. They tell you it’s voluntary but it won’t feel that way.
We had an excellent trip with our guide Edwin and his team from TreXperience. I couldn’t wish for a better guide. He was always ready to help and had so… read more many laughs together. While walking he also checked on us many times to see how we were doing. We recently took part in the Salkantay Trek and loved every minute. Our guide Manolo was a constant source of positive energy from dawn til dusk (or after dusk)! He… read more told us stories of the Incas, of the stars and of the different Quechua communities and kept us entertained when the going (altitude) got tough. Melchor served up excellent food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and somehow managed to bake a pie and a cake after a long day of trekking. Pedro and Juan were excellent su chefs and porters, waking us up with hot coca tea in the mornings and ensuring we had warm water to wash our hands and faces with after a long day of hiking, and even bringing us hot water bottles to keep us warm on the first and second night.
Communication from Trexperience in the run up to the trek was fantastic. The whole trek was organised really well, from collection from our hostel on the first day to drop off on the last day (including collecting our luggage from the office and then the onward travel from the office back to our hostel). Everything ran smoothly without the slightest glitch. Would highly recommend!
This trip was amazing! From the moment we started till the very end. Everything was superbly organised so we didn’t have to worry about anything and could just enjoy the… read more trek and scenery! Our tour guide Jose Luis was absolutely brilliant and was incredibly knowledgable along the way but amazingly personable as well! I had my reservations about the physical demands of the trek (I have asthma and my physical fitness is not amazing) but was supported by the group and Trexperience team to complete it. For example, I was able to ride the emergency horse the last 20 minutes or so to the highest point when I was struggling with the altitude, and at other times was encouraged by my fellow trekkers and tour guide.
Our tour guide Mickey (Miguel) was fantastic and cheerful, often cracking jokes and sharing facts about the local flora. He was very patient and encouraging as I struggled physically with some parts of the trek, and never rushed me. He was also very passionate and knowledgeable about the Salkantay trail and Machu Pichu itself.
The views you see along the way are breathtaking, and the food is unbelievable. Our chefs Ronaldo, René and Oscar created the most delicious, wholesome and creative meals even at the most remote locations. They even made an impromptu birthday cake for my friend/ fellow trekker!
The horse boys Simon and Nelson, along with the rest of the staff, did a fantastic job at taking care of our belongings and preparing the campsites. The tents were roomy and comfortable, and we were provided with hot water bottles every night. An absolute highlight of the whole experience was definitely the beautiful clear night skies!
Overall, I couldn’t recommend the Salkantay trek and Trexperience enough – it was so incredible and well-organised, and the group felt like family.

I have hiked quit a lot, but this experience is different and unique with porters and chiefs services. I highly recommend it to anyone who don’t mind outdoor living… read more for a few days. More specifically, here are what I like and some thoughts
Like:
1. The porters are working very hard for very little, and they are very attentive, eager to please if we need anything. I would suggest to bring a lot more changes to tip them.
2. Our guides, Carlos and Joao are very personable and fun, knowable and experienced. I have enjoyed the interaction with them greatly. I wish I asked them a lot more questions, cultural and personal.
3. The chief ( Julio) and meals are excellent, I am amazed how did he manage to produce the meals with beautiful presentation under such primitive conditions? Again, the porters bring in everything include cooking stove, pots and pans, propane etc Tip is: be prepared to eat three square meal a day!:-)
Suggestions:
1. Company could ask us to indicate the t-shirt size ahead of time online to make it easier for the guides.
2. I would like to stick to the same sleeping bag and pillow, so a system to put our name there would be helpful.
3. For travelers, I wish I read more about the history so I can learn even more from the trip.
It was a wonderful experience, the trail/place and the people have touched me deeply, and I’d do it again!

The porters were always clapping us into camp after a day of hiking after they had been then ones doing the actual hard work. Lastly the food, wow, amazing what kinda of things they can cook up there on tiny stoves. We had a wide variety of dishes with fish, beef, chicken along with traditional Peruvian dishes and they easily accommodated for those in the group that were vegan or vegetarian. Can’t recommend this company and tour enough!!!
