Although the Inca Trail is challenging, Charly was patient with each climber who climbed at different speed.

In addition, he introduced us to the Peruvian culture such as explaining us about the drinks that the porters were drinking.

We also had the best cook, Carmelo. He was amazing with his skills and creative with his dishes. I was always impressed by the meals.

Then, there were the impressively strong porters who were so friendly and welcoming.

It is so amazing to hear the great things that this tour company does for the porters like insurance and being the one of the first companies to employ women.

I honestly believed that we picked the best tour company. Go with a local company like this one!

  I did the two day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu excursion with Robinzon as our guide. I am 43 and in good shape (HIIT workouts 2-3 times per week… read more and typically a 5K run each week). The trail wasn’t too bad, although parts could be challenging. I completed the trip in tennis shoes.

Robinzon was AMAZING!! He went at our pace (my 67 yo mother was with us) and was very patient. He was also very knowledgeable about history, flora, and fauna. Robinzon made sure we knew what was going on for each part of our trip and that we were taken care of- even checking in on mom the day after our trip! He took great pictures of us to document our experience. I wouldn’t have wanted any other guide- Robinzon was great!!

The porters were the hardest working people I’ve ever seen and our chef Rolando made us some of the best food we’ve ever had. He even made me a special cake for my birthday. We can’t say enough good things about our experience with TreXperience and highly recommend this company to anyone considering doing tours of Peru.

Our trail tickets only let us into Machu Picchu once (no bathrooms inside Machu Picchu), however, my boyfriends stomach was not feeling well and we needed to use the restroom mid tour, Charlie was able to talk to the ticketing counter to get us an exception so we could re-enter Machu Picchu again. We absolutely loved the packed lunch on our hike, however we did not enjoy the dinner chosen by the tour company. The restaurant they chose was low quality with limited options. We ended up going to eat somewhere else after the group dinner was over.

Food was exceptional. The chef Francisco prepared meals that introduced us to Peruvian cuisine. The table was set up nice and colorful with beautiful flowers that allowed us to relax after a long walking day.
The campsite was already set by the time we arrived. Warm water to wash your face, warm towels and cool (purified) water on the hot afternoons.
Every morning we were woken up with the musical voice of Melky. It was refreshing to see his smile and saying "good morning, good morning. Coca tea or coffee"
We learned history and customs of the locals. Elisban took his great knowledge and patience to share all this information.
The mystic views, the hard climbing and the camaraderie of the rest of the hikers made this trip so special. At the end of the trip all of us were family. Hugs and tears were the common affection when we conquered the Machu Picchu.

  I have hiked quit a lot, but this experience is different and unique with porters and chiefs services. I highly recommend it to anyone who don’t mind outdoor living… read more for a few days. More specifically, here are what I like and some thoughts
Like:
1. The porters are working very hard for very little, and they are very attentive, eager to please if we need anything. I would suggest to bring a lot more changes to tip them.
2. Our guides, Carlos and Joao are very personable and fun, knowable and experienced. I have enjoyed the interaction with them greatly. I wish I asked them a lot more questions, cultural and personal.
3. The chief ( Julio) and meals are excellent, I am amazed how did he manage to produce the meals with beautiful presentation under such primitive conditions? Again, the porters bring in everything include cooking stove, pots and pans, propane etc Tip is: be prepared to eat three square meal a day!:-)
Suggestions:
1. Company could ask us to indicate the t-shirt size ahead of time online to make it easier for the guides.
2. I would like to stick to the same sleeping bag and pillow, so a system to put our name there would be helpful.
3. For travelers, I wish I read more about the history so I can learn even more from the trip.

It was a wonderful experience, the trail/place and the people have touched me deeply, and I’d do it again!

We woke up with a coca tea every morning, a huge varied breakfast, beautiful lunch later on, “happy hour” with lots of snacks and hot drinks followed by buffet dinner with delicious local dishes and nutritious food. There were plenty delicious vegetarian options. On our treks, the views were breathtaking. The trekking was at points challenging on the second day but accessible to all levels and very rewarding. The tour guides were very supportive and always making sure everyone was doing well. Eddy and Juan had a lot of knowledge about the Incas and beautiful stories to tell us about their culture. They were clearly very passionate and love their job. I would recommend this experience to anyone who is lucky enough to do it!

  We had a fantastic 4 day hiking tour to Machu Picchu on the Luxury Private tour. The hikes are challenging and so beautiful. (Some on the internet made it sound… read more nearly impossible which it was not) We hiked about 10 km every day and reached camp by the afternoon and could rest for the next day. Edy, our guide, coordinated the 18 porters and the cooks to make our trip extraordinary. Edy like the porters is Quetchua, the descendents of the Inca. He taught us a lot about the culture, history, and mystical stories. He made us realize that the Inca trail is so special because it runs through the sacred valley bounded by the sacred mountains and river. The stunning views and learning about the Incas and the Quechua made the hike seem other worldly. The service was extraordinary by Trexperience. Our porters not only carried our things but also decorated our tents with pillows and dolls. The luxury tour provides a hot shower each night and massage. Vanessa gave us first class massages after the hike. Valentine, the head chef, made us beautiful, tasty meals and the food is served on real plates and utensils.
