Jorge was the head chef on my tour and he made us 5 star meals with limited resources in the middle of the Andes—it was a talent to behold. Demetrio and Julian were Jorge’s helpers and they were incredible. The entire team did everything with so much care and love and I’m grateful to have met them. Vicente my tour guide will forever be a brother, he was kind and knowledgeable and really showed us the time of our lives. I feel lucky to have crossed paths with him. If you can help it please ask for Vicente as a tour guide along with Jorge, Demetrio, y Julian. I’m a world traveler for hobby and work, and Vicente was the best tour guide I’ve ever encountered like inthe world. I can not recommend this tour and/or these guys enough.

Can’t recommend this company enough. Our guides, Robby and Sol, were very knowledgeable and taught us all so much about the Inca history and culture along our hike. The tents are pitched for you, the cooks are fantastic, they provide equipment, and the guides have lots of knowledge. You learn a lot as well. We just finished the 4D3N Inca Trek and TreXperience took the best care of us. Robbie and his team made sure the whole family finished the trek. They encouraged us… read more along the way and kept a pace that wouldn’t overexert us. He knew all the cool spots to take breaks and he made sure we started early to beat the crowds. This company "suggests" that everyone should tip 80-100 sols to each porters and 10-15% of the tour fee to guide as a tip after booking. it’s not right to… read more inform that after booking. Even though each tour company said that tips are not included. but I have asked people who booked other travel agencies and there is no "suggestion" on how much to tip.
The tour fee is 700 US dollars per person. Even if each person gives minimum 10% as the tips(70USD), our group was 16 people, then that is 1,120 US dollars for the tour guides for 4 days working. I think that’s too much. I’m totally fine with the tips for porters, because they really did hard work. but giving 70 USD for our tour guides? Nope
From the moment we met Robbie the night before the trek, he explained it very thoroughly and made us feel at ease that he is going to be our guide.… read more Robbie took great care of us during the trek, made sure we stay hydrated and breaks as needed. At each stop site for lunch and dinner we were given fresh water and soap to wash our hands. Every moment with TreXperience were very thoughtful! To top it off, our guide Robbie made us hot espresso when we arrive to the highest peak of the trek! It was definitely one of the highlights of the trip! You definitely won’t regret if you choose TreX

He was equal parts fun and easy going as he was organized and professional. The entire group was truly fantastic. Jorge, Demetrio, and Julien were brilliant with meals. It was really restaurant quality food in the middle of a mountain. Everything was made fresh and traditionally. Thank you so much to Vicente, Jorge, Demetrio, and Julien for making every single moment of this trip memorable.
Truly one of the most incredible experiences of my life! My husband and I booked the private 2-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu through Trexperience because of the great reviews,… read more and they exceeded every expectation. We were lucky enough to have Vincent as our guide – he was the best! He was a wonderful storyteller, a patient and encouraging guide, and very flexible with personalizing the experience for us. He had an answer for every question we had, and would occasionally ask us questions that we wouldn’t know the answer to – resulting in some of the most ridiculous jokes I’ve ever heard. Vincent also had a true respect and reverence for his history and traditional Inca customs, it was a beautiful experience to learn from him. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide to lead us to Machu Picchu!
Before starting the trail, we decided to stay overnight in Ollantaytambo to have a later wake up time (7AM pickup instead of 4AM, highly recommend). We decided to go with the private tour instead of a group because we wanted to go at our own pace, and honestly it wasn’t that much more expensive than the group tour – especially worth it when we considered the level of effort to get out there in the first place. We started the day on the Panoramic train to KM 104. Try to get seats on the side by the river. It’s beautiful from every angle, but that was definitely the place to get the best views. After getting off the train, we crossed the bridge and were greeted by an Andean Motmot! Such a lucky bird sighting! We were also fortunate to do the hike at the end of April, there were thousands of different orchids blooming on the trail.
Right away, you encounter the Inca Site of Chachabamba, directly across the river. It’s a great start to the trail before the ascent. The first half of the hike up to Wiñay Wayna was entirely uphill, it’s challenging but definitely doable. For reference, my husband and I are in our early-30s and moderately fit – we exercise regularly, but nothing can really prepare you for the altitude. Definitely stay in Cusco a couple days, drink lots of coca tea, and do what you need to do to adjust. After about 2.5 hours, we entered into a shaded area with a beautiful waterfall that we took a nice rest at. About 20 minutes from there, we reached Wiñay Wayna! This site alone is seriously worth the effort, it’s unbelievable from every direction. From there, the trail becomes a lot easier. Not as much continuous incline, Vincent referred to this part as "Inca flat" (basically quick ups and downs for the remainder of the hike). After one last push up a couple of daunting staircases, we reached the Sun Gate! It’s a surreal and spiritual experience, I can’t really put into words how special it was to see Machu Picchu in the distance. A little bit more walking from Intipunku, and we arrived at the bus station to be transported to Aguas Claientes.
The next morning, we woke up early and hopped on the same bus to be taken back to Machu Picchu. We had reserved tickets to climb Huayna Picchu, which we were feeling a bit nervous about, but I am so glad we did it. Honestly, the view at the top was worth every single stair to get up there. There were so many beautiful orchids, butterflies, and birds that provided great incentive (an excuse) to take rests on the way up. A true highlight of the experience! We still had plenty of time in Machu Picchu itself to see all of the temples and walk through the ruins. When our time was up, we said goodbye and hopped on the panoramic train in Aguas Calientes to return to Cusco in time for dinner and an early night of sleep.
This experience provided me with two of the best days of my life, and I could not recommend it more highly. A huge part of our experience was sharing it with Vincent, and I would absolutely recommend traveling with him if you can. We’re already planning on coming back to do the 4-day trail with him in the future! Until then, my husband and I will cherish the memories made on this unforgettable trip.

The food was amazing and blew me away, especially since you’re in the jungle and mountains. They are able to produce such an amazing meal every time, even baking a cake for us on the last day! You’ll never go hungry trust me.
Overall I really recommend TreXperience for anyone looking to travel to Machu Picchu, the staff from top to bottom were fantastic and make the experience stress free!

My husband and I booked this tour for our honeymoon and I can honestly say it’s been one of the best experiences of our lives.
Amazing views, amazing food,… read more amazing people!
You get to journey through some beautiful landscapes – originally walked by the Incas – and see environments including grassland, cloud forest and jungle.
The group size is perfect (around 14 people) so you have time to talk to and get to know everyone.
At night you camp in the beautiful mountains and you don’t even have to put up your tents – there’s a team of amazing porters who do it all for you and your camp is ready and waiting when you arrive.
Speaking of the amazing porters, this includes a number of talented cooks who prepare you breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s a mix of both traditional Peruvian and European food and it is absolutely delicious! (My husband and I had been suffering from travellers’ tummy before the hike, but this food put us right.)
The chefs even prepared an amazing cake and marshmallow birthday surprise for one hiker in the group, and on the last night my wife and I were presented with not one, but TWO chocolate cakes to celebrate our honeymoon!! Amazing!!
What makes you feel even better is that Trexperience is an ethical company, which treats the friendly team of porters well, makes sure they are paid properly and doesn’t make them work ridiculous hours, ie four day treks back-to-back. There are some porters along the trail who look absolutely EXHAUSTED and it does feel uncomfortable. However, with Trexperience you can be confident that in this company they are treated well.
Each day begins with an early breakfast before you start your hike. Day one is pretty easy, while days two and three are more challenging – some steep up and down hills.
However, if you haven’t done a hike before please don’t worry, all you need is good stamina, a positive attitude, and the will to succeed!
You walk through some BREATHTAKING landscapes and are constantly surrounding by mountains which are beautiful come rain or shine.
There’s waterfalls, wild animals, gorgeous flowers, and historical sites along the way.
Another point; if you are struggling, you can take as much time as you want and one of the hike leaders will stay with you.
All this, and I haven’t even mentioned our super tour leaders or Machu Picchu!!!
We had two tour leaders for our trip who had bounds of energy, enthusiasm and humour.
Each day, to break up the walks, our guides Erisban and Manolo would stop us for a rest and tell us about traditional Incan beliefs and customs. It was really interesting and a great way to learn about history as Erisban and Manolo are descended from the Incas.
They are very passionate and you could tell that they loved introducing their culture to us.
They were great fun to be around, always laughing and joking with the group, while they could always put you at ease if you were worried.
Thank you Manolo and Erisban – you were super!
The fourth and final day is the the highly anticipated two hour walk and visit to Machu Picchu.
The team wakes up very early and embarks on a beautiful hike to ‘Sun Gate’ – the viewing point opposite Macchu Picchu.
Here you can celebrate the completion of your journey, take in the awe inspiring scenery and (of course!) take celebratory selfies.
A visit to the Incan super-town really is a once in a lifetime experience and leaves you in awe of what was achieved hundreds of years ago.
After your visit, you take a bus (hooray!) down from the mountains to enjoy some llama burgers (seriously!) and some shopping before taking the panoramic train back to Ollantaytambo. A beautiful way to end a superb trip.
In conclusion, this is a once in a lifetime trip that you simply must do if you are planning on visiting Machu Picchu – and there’s only one group to do it with: Trexperience!
